Firefighters on the Greek island of Evia say it’s survival hangs ‘minute by minute’ on heat, wind and rain as few residents stay behind to fend off the flames.

The Prime Minister of Greece has described the situation as ‘nightmarish.’ Firefighters are struggling to contain the flames near the capital Athens.
