Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez returns to the ring for his annual Cinco De Mayo weekend fight and will face former junior middleweight champ Jaime Munguia on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), 33, is 9-1 fighting on this particular weekend. His only loss was against Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022, challenging for the WBA light heavyweight title. This is Alvarez’s fourth defense of his undisputed super middleweight championship. He holds the record for most successful undisputed title defenses in the four-belt era with three — against Gennadiy Golovkin, John Ryder and Jermell Charlo.

Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs), 27, has won eight of his past 10 fights by stoppage, including a ninth-round TKO over Ryder in January.

This is the first time two fighters born in Mexico will fight for an undisputed championship. It’s also the first super middleweight title fight featuring two fighters born in Mexico. There has never been a world title fight featuring two Mexican-born fighters above 160 pounds.

In the co-main event, Mario Barrios takes on Fabian Andres Maidana, younger brother of former two-division champion Marcos Maidana, in a 12-round battle for Barrios’ WBC interim welterweight title.
